Friday Evening Keynote Confirmed: "Strengthening communities and building resilience to natural disasters in Queensland"
Flooding in late 2010 and January 2011 inundated huge areas of Queensland and Victoria, Australia. In Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, 200,000 houses were flooded, and more than 70 other towns in Queensland were also affected. In the short time since the floodwaters have ebbed, public agencies and tens of thousands of volunteers have made astonishing progress on clean-up and recovery. Australian experts involved in the planning, evacuation, and recovery will be joining us in person and via video-conference.
